- EVENT LOG -
After some to-do, everyone makes it through the Northgate and into the crowded plaza. Rune, seeing how everyone in the plaza is armed, summons his ghostly centaur Eidolon around his body, like armor. His majestic glory is unmatched.Elibor and Coffin try to pickpocket each other simultaneously! Coffin succeeds in his attempt, but neither quite manages to notice what the other was doing.
Rune runs into Elibor.Elibor assures Rune that Rune can trust Elibor, and Rune (being rather naive and gullible) decides they are now fast friends. Coffin, seeking interesting people he can perhaps trick out of their purses (one of whom he has already succeeded at), offers to show them the way to Blackwing Library! Elibor notices Lieutenant Julania, whom he has already… met, is glaring at Coffin from a distance, and stalls the group in the plaza in the hopes of getting Coffin in trouble.
Meanwhile, Chiemeka, Selma, and Telchar make their way through the levels of the city easily with Chiemeka’s status. When they arrive at the Cathedral, a blind monk heals Selma, who sees the grandest place she has ever been. With Selma healthy for the first time in weeks, the three of them head to the [[Kenabres Temple of Iomedae | Temple of Iomade]] to see Irabeth.
Back in the plaza, Xiang has finally gotten out of the Gate of Iron and Steel. He notices that Lieutenant Julania, whom he has his eyes and on and is interested in getting a bit more on, is starring at Coffin, who is now very uncomfortable to be standing in the middle of an open square with the lieutenant. Xiang goes over to the group, and happily lets Coffin know of his predicament. At this moment, Lieutenant Julania heads over to the group, yelling at Coffin to keep out of plaza, and telling the others that he is a pickpocket. Coffin slips away during this, just as Elibor notices his purse is considerably lighter. Xiang begins hitting on Julania, who goes to slap him. Then she realizes he is into that sort of thing and considers the offer. She tells him to meet her at Wench’s at 6:00, after she is off-duty.
Elibor jumps on Rune’s mighty back, as they in their majestic friendship gallop off in the direction they think Coffin went. Xiang tries to keep up with them, but is not in the best of shape, and can hardly be expected to keep up with someone who is basically a horse.
Back at the Temple of Iomedae, the three wait to speak with Irabeth, who is currently in conversation with Quednys Orlun. Telchar is not at all okay with the fact that she is an Orc. Nor does he like all these weird non- dwarvish customs, like how that little girl Selma is sliding this creepy mask over her face as Irabeth looks their way, but he keeps it to all to himself. They overhear something about a cultist plot centered around Armasse Day. Chiemeka speaks with Irabeth about the plot she uncovered in Khanduras and intrduces Selma, while trying to keep Selma from being a COMPLETE embarrassment. She hands over the note they retrieved from the demon in Khanduras, and Irabeth hands it off to Quednys after reading it.
Telchar tells Irabeth of his quest to kill the traitorous dwarf Staunton Vhane, who has been missing for a year. Irabeth has Telchar go with Quednys to Blackwing Library, while Chiemeka takes Selma to Wench’s to get a room to sleep in.
Back in the Gate District, Elibor majestically rides Rune as they search for Coffin in the crowd. However, Coffin ducks into an alleyway, and the city in incredibly crowed for Armasse Day, so they lose him. The alleyway happens to be the same one Xiang has stopped to rest in after trying to chase Elibor and Rune, and they become fast friends, deciding to head over to Wench’s and celebrate life.
Meanwhile, Chiemeka and Selma have arrived at Wench’s, only to find it filling up with the lunch crowd. The rooms are already completely booked. Chi manages to get Selma a stable to sleep in for the week (at the price of a full room), as Selma seems to have spent her wealth on useless items while crossing the Lake of Mists and Veils.
Telchar heads over to Blackwing Library. He admires its craftsmanship – well, admires for something not of dwarven architecture, at least. Quednys gives his assistant Chinweuba the letter, although its information is over a year old and therefore of limited use. Quednys tells Telchar about the Deskari cults, of Vorlesh, and gives him a lead about about the Deep Delvers group that Vhane formed. During his research, Telchar discovers that Vhane ordered the building of bizarre tunnels beneath the city for unknown purposes.
Back at Wench’s, Xiang and Coffin arrive to celebrate life, unaware that Elibor and Rune made their way to the same tavern after giving up on finding Coffin, though the two groups do not immediately see each other. Xiang spots the guy that sold him a fake cross, and he angrily demands his money back. The man sleazily takes the cross back for a fraction of the price at which he sold it. Coffin, angered by how his new friend Xiang is being treated, headbutts the guy – just as Elibor notices them.
Meanwhile, Chi has given Selma her first taste of beer, and Selma has been drunkenly darting between corners of the tavern for some time. Seeing the cross get taken and the fight start, she without prompting comes over and tried to magic it back. Telchar enters Wench’s after a long day in the library just as the sleazy man scolds Coffin and shows him how to do a REAL headbutt. Telchar could not be happier to walk into a bar.
- BAR FIGHT ENSUES -
Selma summons a pony in the middle of a crowed bar, which, along with Rune, majestically chases after the man who sold the fake cross. The sleazy man escapes! Telchar is dog-piled and then accidentally enlarged into a giant dwarf by Selma, and Coffin stabs a guy (to death??) as the guards come in!
- BAR FIGHT ENDS -
Julania is at the head of the guards, and she could not be more furious. This is the last time, she tells Coffin, and she drags him down to the guardhouse. Selma notices for the first time that Coffin is also a Sarkorite – the first one she has seen outside her family. Everyone in the party has an attachment to the scene, and so they all go down to the guardhouse to fill out paperwork. Elibor demands to get back the money Coffin stole from him, and he ends up filling out more paperwork than anyone. Meanwhile, there are five Teiflings being incredibly quiet in the cell next to Coffin. They seem to be waiting for something. Court dates are arranged, and everyone leaves, aside from Coffin, who is of course locked up in a cell.
Dinner at Wench’s for everyone! Except Coffin. Selma experiences her first hangover, while Chi is generous with the money she’s amassed. Telchar finds they have true dwarven ale and is pleased. Xiang finally sees Julania in the corner, and that dinner they planned gets underway. Xiang does some of the worst seduction of his life. Julania calls him out on it, and then things get… EXTREMELY SEXY.
While this is happening, Coffin picks the lock on his cell, and sneaks off into the night. Only the unnerving group of locked up Teiflings see him leave.
As the night winds down, people make their way to bed. Selma is escorted to the stables by Chi, who then goes to the Temple of Iomedae. Telchar retires to the Temple of Torag. Elibor and Rune head to Elibor‘s old home, which he has not seen in sixteen years. They discover his family no longer lives there. In fact, IT IS NOW Irabeth’S HOUSE. After it is made very clear they cannot stay there, despiteRune’s very kind offer to do their horsewor- er, housework, Elibor takes them to one of his former hideaways, and they spend the night there.
- NIGHT BEFORE Armasse Day FADES AWAY -
- Armasse Day -
Chi comes to get Selma, whose appearance has been done no favors by sleeping in a stable. They prepare for the festivities, Selma changing into an incredibly expensive dress and pulling out a harp that she spent most of her money on while traveling to Kenabres. Chi so completely ready to take part in the fighting tournaments. Xiang wakes up after almost no sleep and some incredibly kinky sex, alone. He manages to uncuff himself from the bed as a hot breakfast Julania paid up front for him is delivered. He goes down from the room and sees the paladin and little girl from last night. He joins them for the festivities, hoping to find Lieutenant Julania again. Telchar wakes up in the Temple of Torag, and is told of some walls he must absolutely visit and see the craftsmanship of. He makes his way back to Wench’s, and meets up with Chi, Selma, and Xiang for a day excitement!
Elibor shows Rune the way to the Blackwing Library, where he has meant to go since arriving in the city. They part ways for the time being.Rune enters the library and tries to explain that his family kicked him out and “apprenticed” him to Aravashnial. The clerk says that Aravashnial… does not… exactly… take, pupils. I mean, have you met him? As this conversation is happening, Aravashnial passes by and starts out the library. Rune chases after him, only to have his dreams crushed. Aravashnial, after rejecting him, tells him (falsely, of course) that his majestic centaur form is ridiculous. Rune unsummons his Elidon in shame.
As Rune’s hopes and dreams are tragically crushed, Chi, Selma, Xiang, and Telchar see him on their way to the library to pick up Chi’s brother, and see if Selma can find some of the information she has been searching for to fix whatever the Demon did to her magics. Rune joins them, and they find Baba and somehow manage to convince him to leave the library for one second oh my god, but in the effort and with so many people, everyone kinda just forgets that Selma needed to do something there, and the DM made a judgement call about revealing plot details too soon maybe. So they all head off to the festivities!!!!
Elibor, after parting ways with Rune, goes to check back in on Coffin and the Teiflings he noticed earlier. However, Coffin is gone, and when he tries to inform the gaurds, they ask him to fill out even more hours of paperwork for an inquiry. Elibor instead asks to speak with the Teiflings. He calls himself the “Demon Doctor”- perhaps you’ve heard of him? (Nobody’s heard of him.) He’s not able to speak to the Teiflings right now, so he waits around for the Witch Hunters to pick them up for execution.
When the Witch Hunters arrive, Elibor again introduces himself as the “Demon Doctor” (Who calls him that? Himself, mostly.) and gets permission to talk with them/attempt some demon killing techniques once they are transported. He’s also allowed to dissect them after their execution. Elibor spends a good deal of time torturing the Teiflings and experimenting on them as they try to tell him the plot that may destroy the city, but honestly he doesn’t believe them and shows us his Neutral Evil colors, though not where the other player characters could have seen them. The Witch Hunters stop him from outright killing the Teiflings, as he is not a licensed executioner.
Elibor, after leaving the Teiflings until execution time, runs into the rest of the party, and they all enjoy the festivities together. Rune gets a wreath crown on his head and girls flock to him, but he is too sad to notice. Telchar gets surrounded by children who tug on his beard. Selma wins a giant teddy bear, and very badly plays her weird lute. Chi is SO GOD DAMN READY for the fight tournament, but – !
